Jazz on the Platform a success!
(added 01/08/06)

On Thursday evening 27th July, SDSR ran it’s second Jazz on the Platform event as a part of Warwick’s Jumpers and Jazz in July Festival. 250 people came and celebrated the event on the Warwick Station Platform as it was transformed into a thriving social gathering with a dash of Jazz!

People gather on the Warwick Station platform to listen to the band.

Keystone Cop and Charlie Chaplin were there to greet people, and after seeing the various wares our markets provided, patrons could wander down the platform and sit in the Platform Cinema, or be entertained by local musicians.

The Warwick Choral Society started the evening and were followed by a local jazz band. Ben Velacott (14yrs) provided a wonderfully refreshing look at poetry. Following this, the newly named 2+1 featuring Keith, Gabby and Kevin proved ever so popular, with their Sax, Trumpet and Piano items.

Café de Rail featured the famous Hudson’s Pies, as well as a local Winery allowing sampling of it’s various wines.

SDSR members young and old gathered to help with the various aspects of setup and running of the evening, which proved to run smoothly and with much success.

It is hoped to run the event next year, and with the return to steam for C17 971, it is hoped it will prove to be an even more popular event!
